Technica problems encountered in the analysis of spirometry data collected on chidden aged 6-11 years in the United States, 1963-65, and the solutions are detailed in a narrative account. Data from other methodologic studies are presented and discussed. Behavioral and technical problems in the survey measurement of pulmonary function in children are discussed.
