Description:In 2022, CDC/ATSDR published Guidelines for Examining Unusual Patterns of Cancer and Environmental Concerns (hereafter referred to as 2022 Guidelines) to provide state, tribal, local, and territorial public health agencies, and other partners access to information about current scientific tools and approaches to evaluate unusual patterns of cancer and environmental concerns in communities. The revised guidelines propose an approach to identifying and investigating unusual patterns of cancer, however, challenges and limitations of these types of investigations remain. The following frequently asked questions (FAQs) aim to address some of the common questions associated with community-level investigations of unusual patterns of cancer.
