Description:"Methods for controlling nitrous-oxide (10024972) (N2O) exposure during administration to patients as an anesthetic gas by dental workers were discussed. NIOSH recommends an exposure limit of 25 parts per million (ppm) N2O during analgesia administration, however, exposures of up to 1,000ppm N2O have been recorded during uncontrolled dental procedures. N2O exposures have been associated with short term effects on behavior and long term effects on reproductive health. Several methodological aspects of system maintenance, ventilation and work practice were recommended to control N2O exposure. An illustration of an N2O anesthetic delivery and scavenging system, a step by step approach for controlling N2O, and a list of sampling methods for N2O were provided." --NIOSHTIC-2
