Description:This report presents statistics on mortality by occupation and industry from information reported on death certificates. The report illustrates how this multi-State data base can be used to identify possible associations between occupational factors and health outcomes, as measured by mortality. The report is a collaborative effort of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the State vital statistics offices. The U.S. Bureau of the Census provided assistance in developing and evaluating the coding procedures for occupation and industry from the death certificate.
