Description:Information on births of Hispanic parentage was available for 23 States in 1982. The States that included an item on their birth certii3cates asking for the ethnic or Hispanic origin of the mother and father were Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. These States reported 337,390 births to Hispanic mothers, accounting for nearly 95 percent of the na tional estimate of Hispanic-origin births in 1982.
