Description:A National Center for Health Statistics task force has constructed new growth charts for infants and children in the United States showing weight, length (recumbent or upright), weight by length, and head circumference. Clinical use of the charts can immediately show how the growth of any child ranks in comparison with the rest of the U.S. child population of like age and sex. Their primary use is to clinically detect nutritional and growth disturbances among infants and children and to assess the comparative growth status of defined populations of children.
