(Nursing homes were defined as resident institutions which provided nursing or personal care and maintained three beds or more for patients.) This survey, conducted in April-September 1968, collected selected data from 18,185 homes on number of residents, admissions, discharges, admission policies, monthly charges for care, number and kinds of employees, and medical and recreational services offered.
