  • Description:
Interviewing a suspected/verified TB patient (index patient) for the purpose of a contact investiga- tion is an integral part of tuberculosis (TB) control. An effective TB interview requires skill and practice. Prior to conducting an actual interview, it is important that a healthcare worker develop his/her interviewing skills. The most effective method of accomplishing this is for a healthcare worker to interview an individual who portrays an index patient in the presence of a trained observer who provides constructive feedback.

The New Jersey Medical School National Tuberculosis Center is a joint project of the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Funding is provided in part by a cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Tuberculosis Elimination.
