Description:We sequenced the genomes of eight isolates from various regions of the United States. These isolates form a monophyletic cluster clearly related to but distinct from Vibrio cholerae. Phylogenetic and genomic analyses suggest that they represent a basal lineage highly divergent from Vibrio cholerae or a novel species.
