  In the fourth quarter of 1973> 7*686 isolations of salmonella were reported from humans, an average of 591 isolations per week (Tables I, II, and V-A). This number represents a decrease of 6j> (9.6%) from the weekly average during the third quarter of 1973 and an increase of 64 (12.1^) over the weekly average for the fourth quarter of 1972.
