    FIRST QUARTER 1972, ISSUED NOVEMBER 1972 In the first quarter of 1972, 5,078 isolations of salmonella were reported from humans, an average of 391 isolations per week (Tables I, II, and V-A). This number represents a decrease of 128 (24.7 percent) from the weekly average for the fourth quarter of 1971, and a decrease of 24 (5.8 percent) from the weekly average for the first quarter of 1971.
