In the fourth quarter of 1971, 6,753 isolations of salmonellae were reported from humans, an average of 519 isolations per week (Tables I, II, and V-A). This number represents a decrease of 126 (19.5 percent) from the weekly average during the third quarter 1971 and a decrease of 6 (1.1 percent) from the weekly average of the fourth quarter 1970 (Tables II, IV, and V-B). Average reported human isolations per week for each month and during the quarter are provided below for the last three years.
