  This report analyzes vital statistics data from the National Center for Health Statistics on suicide deaths among youth (ages 15-24) in the United States for the period 1970-1980. It is intended for use by clinicians, health planners and evaluators, and other public health professionals interested in the number and characteristics of youth suicide. This report is a companion report to the April 1985 report on suicide deaths to all persons in the United States for the same time period.
  
  Work on this report was begun under the auspices of the Center for Health Promotion and Education (Dennis D. Tolsma.
  
  Director) in what was then the Violence Epidemiology Branch.
