Funding to local health departments:
$393,711 - RAPID DETECTION & RESPONSE to emerging drug-resistant germs is critical to contain the spread of these infections. With 2016 funding, Puerto Rico’s HAI/AR program improved the efficiency of case reporting in 92% of hospitals by assessing needs and providing strategies that strengthened their ability to identify and control HAI/AR threats. An agreement was also reached with 40% of acute care hospitals to participate in “nightmare bacteria” CRE surveillance.
