Description:The maps show the trend in the age–adjusted prevalence of obesity and diagnosed diabetes among US adults aged 18 years or older from 1994 through 2015. During this period, the prevalence of obesity and the prevalence of diagnosed diabetes rose in all states. In 1994, all but two states had prevalence of obesity less than 18% and no state exceeded 22%. In 2015, no state had less than 18% and all but one state exceeded 22%. Similarly for diagnosed diabetes, in 1994, no state had prevalence less than 6.0%. In 2015, all states exceeded 6.0%; 27 of these exceeded 9.0%. Because there were major changes in the survey methods in 2011, caution should be taken when compare estimates across 2011 (please refer to http://www.cdc.gov/surveillancepractice/reports/brfss/brfss.html for more detailed information).
