    • Description:
The maps show the trend in age–adjusted prevalence of diagnosed diabetes among adults aged 18 years or older in the United States from 1994 through 2015. During the period, prevalence of diagnosed diabetes has increased across the states in the United States. In 1994, 25 states had prevalence less than 4.5%, 24 states had prevalence of 4.5%–6.0%, and only 1 state had prevalence greater than 6.0%. In 2015, all states had prevalence greater than 6.0%, 27 of these exceeded 9.0%. Because there were major changes in the survey methods in 2011, caution should be taken when compare estimates across 2011 (please refer to http://www.cdc.gov/surveillancepractice/reports/brfss/brfss.html for more detailed information).
