Description:The U.S. Public Health Service Year 1900 and Year 2000 Objectives for the Nation aim for progressive declines in the numbers of lead–poisoned children in the United States, leading to the elimination of this disease. We believe that a concerted society-wide effort could virtually eliminate this disease as a public health problem in 20 years.
This plan, developed for the Committee to Coordinate Environmental Health and Related Programs of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides an agenda for the first 5 years of a comprehensive society-wide effort to eliminate childhood lead poisoning. The results and experience from this 5-year program will lead to the agenda for the folowing15 years.
