Description:More than 100 individuals worked together to create the South Carolina Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan (Cancer Plan), a plan of action that will allow South Carolinians to share ideas and resources to reduce the burden of cancer in each community. The Cancer Plan is a tool that can be used to identify gaps and successes in our efforts, to develop education and training resources, to advocate for new and better programs and policies and to provide a method for coordinating and communicating about cancer efforts statewide. The Cancer Plan is a catalyst for community action: our health advocates across the state work together to enact policies, laws and regulations that will decrease exposure to tobacco products, increase opportunities for healthy diet and exercise, and increase cancer screening, treatment and support.
Funding for this Cancer Plan was provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).
