  • Description:
In 2015, in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Health (MoH), CDC continued to play a leading role in the implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). Redefining and refining the mission of CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection in the context of global health security provides new opportunities for CDC Kenya to assist the MoH to address prevention, detection, and response initiatives. These initiatives will support the Government of Kenya (GoK) in meeting International Health Regulations (IHR) compliance. CDC Kenya was allocated more than 15 million dollars to support GHSA activities in Kenya in fiscal years 2015- 2017. Thus far, a five-year GHSA Road Map for Kenya has been developed through the U.S. government interagency working group in collaboration with the GoK and approved by the National Security Council. CDC supports the new initiative in Kenya and partners with other U.S. government agencies, such as the

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in the Department of Defense (DoD), to further support GHSA projects across the country.
