Description:Eight additional paralytic cases were accepted today with reports from three new states (Arizona, New York and West Virginia). Seven of these cases received Cutter vaccine. The eighth (PSU No. W.Va-1) developed Paralysis in the left leg seven days following inoculation in the left arm with Lilly vaccine.
A total of five cases associated with Lilly vaccine have been accepted to date. A telephone survey of six additional suspects who had received Lilly vaccine was made this afternoon. On the basis of further information it was possible to classify four of these cases as "not polio.“ PSU expects more complete information on the other two within 48 hours. In only one of the five Lilly cases has there been a correlation between site of inoculation and site of first paralysis (PSU Case No. Ind-l).
