Description:Summary of botulism cases reported in 2011.
A total of 140 confirmed cases of botulism (136 laboratory-confirmed and 4 epidemiologically-linked) were reported to CDC in 2011. Foodborne botulism accounted for 20 (14%), infant botulism for 102 (73%), wound botulism for 13 (9%), and botulism of unknown or other etiology for 5 (4%) cases (Table 1).
