  Another Action Packed Issue . . . .. . and it's only two months late! While your phone calls and letters are keeping your faithful NIOSH information office staff hopping (don't stop!), we thought it high time to recount a few NIOSH goings-on and do another issue of the Advisor. There are a few important features in this issue concerning the availability of publications, new policies regarding NIOSH's short course training program, a special feature about NIOSH operations in Region III (headquarters in Philadelphia), and other items. Have a bearable day! Office of Public Information..PHILADELPIDA STORY (NIOSH'S REGION III) NIOSH's Regional Office in Philadelphia serves Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and West Virginia. The wide geographical variations of Region III - from tidewater to mountain streams - is matched by an equally wide variety of industry - from coal mining and pharmaceuticals to textiles and ship building. Region III contains the largest concentration of coal mining in the United States. The oil refineries in the Philadelphia region have the greatest output of any area in the country; Wilmington, Delaware is often referred to as the "chemical capital of the world ." The Region also has the largest storage battery factory in the world, along with steel mills, foundries, fabrication plants - you name it!
