Description:On November 6, 2010, we marked the anniversary of the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act. Significant progress has been made in reducing blood-borne pathogen injuries. Safer engineered devices are available. Yet, registered nurses and other healthcare workers continue to sustain needlesticks and other sharps injuries at an alarming rate in healthcare. This 60 minute webinar provides an overview of sharps injuries at this time, including data collection by University of Virginia's Exposure Prevention Information Network (EPINet) and addressing sharps safety in the perioperative area.
