Description:Following a review of the effects of sound and noise upon the sensory processes, and its use as an audioanalgesic, evidence is presented to show that noise can adversely affect certain visual functions, induce nystagmus and vertigo, disrupt equilibrium, and influence the galvanic skin response. Possible mechanisms of such effects are discussed. [Description provided by NIOSH]
