Description:This U.S. Bureau of Mines research was initiated to delineate the influence of the experimental variables on high-temperature softening-melting properties of pellets. The goals were to (1) investigate the influence of the starting metallization temperature, CO content of the reducing gas, and the flux level on the htsm indices, and (2) relate these indices to the physical and chemical properties of the pellets. The raw materials consisted of taconite concentrate, bentonite, dolomite, and limestone. [Description provided by NIOSH]
