Description:Cost engineering, a basic part of most industry and government work, involves the problems of how to communicate the cost information developed and what analysis techniques were utilized. At the conclusion of a mineral economics study concerning the costs to mine and mill the vast, deep low-grade native copper deposits of upper Michigan, a DCf flow chart mine cost model was developed to help solve these problems. The flow chart mine cost model is a straightforward, graphic definition of the elements required to develop the preliminary "capital required" and "operating costs" estimates for a mine, while it depicts the interrelationships of these elements as they combine to form the total discounted cash flow cost picture.
