  The creation of this text came out of an attempt to design a course to teach the fundamentals of industrial hygiene engineering as related to the design of controls for exposure to health hazards in the workplace. During the design of the course, it was necessary to research the existing literature in the field of industrial hygiene. This report has been divided into eight (8) sections, each of which covers a subject area. This structure allows for reference to a single topic area without the need to consult other sections of the book, thus allowing for the use of the text as a basis for classroom instruction in a number of separate courses.
