Description:Twenty-five coded test articles were evaluated in the Chinese hamster V79 inhibition of metabolic cooperation assay. By the criteria established in this report, 11 of the test chemicals produced positive responses, four test chemicals produced weak positive responses, 1 chemical enhanced metabolic cooperation, 1 chemical weakly enhanced metabolic cooperation, and 7 produced negative responses. Of the 12 test chemicals previously evaluated in this assay, 10 produced responses in agreement with the previously reported responses. Only two of the test chemicals, benzoyl peroxide and 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene, produced responses that differed from those previously reported. [Description provided by NIOSH]
