Description:This report presents the results of a survey of the cost and effectiveness of dust control techniques used in underground coal mines. Respirable dust control techniques for longwalls, continuous miners, and secondary sources are evaluated and compared by cost and percent dust reduction. Where sufficient data are available, the relative effectiveness of various controls are plotted against relative present worth. The results indicate that existing data do not adequately document the effectiveness or costs of the various techniques. [Description provided by NIOSH]
