Description:The feasibility of basic oxygen furnace offgas heat recuperation by preheated scrap was investigated in a quarter-ton furnace. Carbon monoxide was partially combusted by limiting infiltrated air at the hood. Carbon dioxide was about 12 percent near the end of the blow. [Description provided by NIOSH]
