  This testimony concerns the exhibits from NIOSH presented at a hearing in Washington, D.C. regarding electrical protective equipment. The various exhibits included: NIOSH comments on the use of pocket resuscitation masks and a copy of a NIOSH publication concerning public safety and emergency response workers; NIOSH Fatal Accident Circumstances and Epidemiology (FACE) documents not previously submitted to the docket; FACE reports previously submitted dealing with electrical safety related work practices; numerical data from the National Traumatic Occupational Fatality data base concerning work related fatalities occurring during tree trimming; and five summary FACE reports addressing the hazards of electric transmission line repair after severe weather conditions. During transmission line repair after severe weather, experienced personnel work long shifts under adverse conditions, and less experienced workers may be involved in power line work. Portable generators may pose a hazard due to feedback voltage on electric lines assumed to be deenergized. [Description provided by NIOSH]
