  Gross pathologic and histopathologic observations were made on rats exposed to vinyl-bromide (593602) as part of a study of the chronic inhalation toxicity and carcinogenicity of the compound. Groups of male and female Sprague-Dawley-rats were exposed to vinyl-bromide by inhalation at concentrations of 0, 10, 50, 250, or 1,250 parts per million for 52 weeks. Animals were killed at 6 or 12 months for histopathologic examination. The gross pathology and corresponding histopathologic observations were presented for the 260 rats sacrificed according to schedule, sacrificed in extremis, or found dead as of study day 429. A total of 192 rats had been subjected to histopathologic examination, 149 rats underwent scheduled interim sacrifice, 51 rats were sacrificed in extremis, 60 rats were found dead in exposure chambers, and 20 rats were found dead, showing some degree of cannibalization.
