  Appendices were provided for a survey of sanitation practices at underground and surface coal mining operations. Appendix-A comprised a list of the 126 coal mines included in the final data analysis of the survey. In Appendix-B, the methods used to collect and analyze samples of potable water from the mines were described. Water samples were collected at each mine at any of the following sites available: the water source, the showers, the distribution system, worksite and central facility drinking water, ground water, and ice used in drinking water. Water was tested for bacteriological quality, free chlorine, residual chlorine, and pH. Results were presented for these analyses. Appendix-C contained data from the seven questionnaires used; these included the site description for deep mines, site description for surface mines, mine worker information, foreman information, facilities information, health and safety representative information, and management information. Appendix-D contained an explanation of the OLIVER system, used to compile, sort, and analyze data for this study. Appendix-E comprised a statistical analysis of data from this study. Appendix-F included the results of literature searches for research on coal mine sanitation, government and industrial regulations, and equipment manufactured for coal mine sanitation.
