Description:A maximum atmospheric concentration, for 8 hours, of 500ppm is recommended for hexane (110543) on the basis of sensory response and comfort. Information is given on the severity of health hazards and fire hazards, short exposure tolerance, atmospheric concentration immediately hazardous to life, physical properties, chemical properties, evaluation of exposure, recommended control measures, first aid and special medical procedures. The technical or commercial grades of hexane may contain from 1 to 6% benzene (71432), which must be considered in evaluating the hexane health hazard. [Description provided by NIOSH]
