Description:Experiments were conducted to determine if there is some critical, definable level of environmental stress above which the rectal temperature is affected not only by the rate of work but also by the environment, and if such a critical environmental stress existed, whether it could be construed as a viable criterion by which to set environmental limits for work. The findings are intended to apply specifically to the coal mining industry in Great Britain for unacclimatized men work in minimal clothing. [Description provided by NIOSH]
