  Tests conducted at an airport using a single automobile parked on the deplaning ramp with engine idling produce carbon monoxide concentrations of 30 to 140 parts per million in air, accounting for reports of odors, nausea, and irritation, in various parts of an airport terminal (the threshold limit value for carbon monoxide being 50 parts per million). The problem is associated with fresh air inlets being located near the deplaning area, with recommendations of elimination of vehicular traffic in the area, or relocation or alteration of the present fresh air inlets to exclude vehicular exhaust gases.
