Criteria of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene are included along with job tasks and activities divided into five categories. Data on educational background and experience of industrial hygiene technicians and safety professional technicians is summarized. The authors conclude that industrial hygiene technicians and safety professional technicians perform many of the same tasks, however, they are not always assigned proper job activities.
