Description:NIOSH investigations into the incidence of toxic polyneuropathy among workers at the Borden Chemical Company's Columbus Coated Fabrics Division (SIC-2295) in Columbus, Ohio are described. Findings of an investigation by the Ohio Department of Public Health are reviewed. Medical, epidemiological, environmental, engineering, laboratory and toxicological studies conducted by NIOSH are reviewed along with related investigations of similar cases among workers at other companies. The authors suggest that the polyneuropathy at Borden Chemical Company may be related to exposures to methyl-butyl- ketone (591786) and methyl-ethyl-ketone (78933). [Description provided by NIOSH]
