Description:The mortality of pesticide formulators and manufacturers at the Shell Company (SIC-2879) in Denver, Colorado was investigated. Demographic, employment and exposure data was collected for 2,364 workers employed for at least 6 months between 1940 and 1964. Vital status was determined up to December, 1976. Standardized mortality ratios were elevated for nonmalignant respiratory diseases and pneumonia, but no excess death rate from cancer was found. The author recommends evaluation of hospital records of patients from this population and comparison of this data to data from a working population comparison group. [Description provided by NIOSH]
