Description:The statewide planning process for implementation of occupational health and safety services in Rhode Island is reviewed. Relevent legislation, economic and employment trends, and existing services are discussed. The authors conclude that existing services are not adequate to handle the high rate of occupational injury and illness in Rhode Island. They recommend epidemiological studies to identify high risk occupations in need of additional services. [Description provided by NIOSH]
