Description:Op 79-91 describes a technique developed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines that combines the learning capabilities of genetic algorithms (GA's) with the control capabilities of fuzzy logic. That article contained a brief overview of both GA's and fuzzy logic controllers (FLC's) and a description of how to combine these powerful tools for the design of high-performance process-control systems. This paper describes applications of this technique to three physical systems: a liquid-level system, a PH system, and a satellite-rendezvous system. [Description provided by NIOSH]
