Description:An economic evaluation for the citrate absorption system for the removal of sulfur dioxide from flue gas for a 1,000-megawatt powerplant utilizing a 3-percent-sulfur coal and a 4-percent-sulfur kuwait residual oil indicates a capital investment of $26,280,000 and $25,380,000 for the coal and oil, respectively. Removal cost, after credit, is 1.126 and 1.094 Mills per kilowatta hour for the coal and oil, respectively. The system was originally developed at the Salt Lake City Metallurgy Research Center for use in the copper industry. [Description provided by NIOSH]
