Description:Analytical methods for determining atmospheric contamination by 2- hexanone (591786) (methyl-butyl-ketone), diisobutyl-ketone (108838), (2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone) and isophorone (78591) are described. Methods of collection and sample analysis are evaluated based on range and sensitivity under varying conditions, the coefficient of variation, calibrations, and precision and accuracy. Apparatus and reagents used in sampling and analysis are described along with the determination of the desorption efficiency of each of the ketones on charcoal. Possible interferences by water and other compounds are evaluated, and procedures for interference elimination are discussed. [Description provided by NIOSH]
