• Description:
  Eyecup safety goggles advertised as meeting the requirements of the ANSI Z87.1 Standard were tested. An attempt was made to include all covercup models currently available in the United States having clear lenses, direct ventilation, and a brace bar. A general description of each test is included along with a discussion of the test results. Twenty-four models were tested. Many models were found to be seriously defective. Eleven of 24 models failed the lens impact test and 8 of the 11 also failed the frame impact test. The use of either flexible fitting goggles, or eyecup goggles that performed well in the impact tests is recommended. [Description provided by NIOSH]
