  Stress with regard to women in police work is analyzed as to physical and emotional aspects, and several techniques and attitudes considered helpful in reducing stress for the female police officer are listed. Considerations in the analysis include differences between stresses on male and female officers, negative attitudes regarding ability of women police officers, male peer approval, differences in biology and physical ability between men and women, differences in performances of physical tasks achieving the same outcome, discriminating between skill and innate physical ability, differences between men and women regarding emotional responses and tolerance of stress, self image, different behavioral expectations toward men and women, working in a masculine dominated society and job, emotional involvement in crisis situations and emotional release.
