Description:Substantial decomposition of cos to CO and s occurs in an electric discharge (e.g., an ozonizer) at ambient temperature and pressure without cs2 formation. There is no interference by so2 or co2, but h2o decreases the efficiency of the conversion. About 50 pct conversion occurs at 20 deg.-25 Deg. C; the conversion is greater at lower temperatures and is less at 90 deg.-150 Deg. C. Low pressure and low concentration of cos (<8.5 pct) increase the conversion. [Description provided by NIOSH]
