Description:This report presents an investigation on the applicability of landsat multispectral scanner satellite and simulated thematic mapper data to the phosphate mining area of central flordia. An evaluation was made of the sensors as mine monitoring tools. The report describes the computer software and hardware used in the digital analysis of the scanner data, the theory of unsupervised classification, the methodology of image processing, and documents the classifications of selected mining and wetland areas. Conclusions are discussed and recommendations are made for future investigations. [Description provided by NIOSH]
