Description:Safe operation and system integrity are two important properties of a mine hoist electrical system. Previous methods used to assess these systems, though rare, have involved extensive downtime and have required skilled personnel. The recommended design considerations presented in this report are for a proposed automated system that will perform real-time measurements, calculations, and recordings of pertinent performance data. Included are equipment installation and test procedures to be used with the system. The report also contains descriptions of hoist performance criteria, and how they are to be collected.
