Description:The Bureau of Mines has been developing a physical model of a typical ac-dc coal mine section electrical system at its Bruceton, Pennsylvania, research facilities. The purpose of the model is to permit preliminary evaluations of electrical problem solutions prior to launching full-scale investigations. This report covers electrical specifications of scaled-down components in the construction of the model. To represent a mixed ac-dc coal mine section, the typical component specifications must detail at least one ac continuous miner, two ac or DC shuttle cars, one ac or DC roof bolter, one ac section fan, and feeder cables.
