  Worker exposures to chromium (7440473) (Cr) and chromium-oxide (1333820) (CrO3) were investigated at the Leonhardt Plating Company (SIC-1061) in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 23, 1974. Personal and general air samples were collected from approximately 15 work stations representing plating, grinding, and polishing activities. Concentrations ranged from 0.0002 to 0.0043 milligrams per cubic meter (mg/CuM) for Cr and 0.0004 to 0.0113 mg/CuM for CrO3. The highest concentrations of Cr and CrO3 were found at an area between plating lines one and two and in a personal sample drawn from plating line two. None of the CrO3 samples exceeded the OSHA standard of 0.1 mg/CuM. [Description provided by NIOSH]
